I’m Alison. Mama. Artist. Doula.
Multi-tasker extraordinaire with kindness and compassion at the heart of all I do.
Welcome to The Mama Circle Sunshine Coast.
I’m Mama to two boys and I support postpartum women to navigate their own story of life as a new mum.
Over the last fifteen years, I have worked as an artist producing community arts projects, theatre productions and festival ceremonies that connect communities and celebrate diversity.
When I became a mama, I realised that at the heart of the communities I work with are the invisible, unsung superheroes… the mamas. Mothers the world over are nurturing their newborns, often in isolation and often at the expense of their own wellbeing.
We have lost the art of honouring mothers, of really bearing witness to the incredible, enduring work mamas do and holding in reverence their ability to love and nurture their babies amongst all the pressures of the modern world.
I began to question how I could use my skills as an artist to support new mums and celebrate their momentous rite of passage into motherhood.
Firstly I began my training as a postpartum doula with Childbirth International and then I went on to complete my training to become an accredited Mama Rising Facilitator. As I spent time exploring ways in which my two career paths of community arts and postpartum doula could collide, The Mama Circle was born.
The Mama Circle provides postpartum doula services alongside creative projects for new mamas that nourish your soul and body, connect you with your tribe and create ritual and ceremony around this most sacred time.
Whether you think of yourself as a creative soul or think you don’t have a creative bone in your body, The Mama Circle is for you. In its essence, its about you being seen for the amazing work that you do and nurturing you in the way that you need at the time you need it most.
I am passionate about nourishing, nurturing and supporting you by providing you with delicious meals for postpartum healing, rituals to honour your motherhood journey and a listening ear to bear witness to your story.
I see you mama. I’m here to help if you need me.
Let’s start to build your village.
